The SLAM! Basketball Summer Program 2008 was definately one to remember. On the 30th August we ended our 'SLAM! 2 The Streets' initiative, with an amazing All-Star Celebration. With over 40 participants, including Wolverhampton's finest basketball talent (old and new), the event was the first of its kind in the city. (see uploaded pictures) Our SLAM! 2 The Streets initiative engaged over 300 young people through our quality basketball, mentoring and life skills activities. SLAM! also hosted many summer events in conjuction with a number of voluntary and public sector organisations such as: ABCD Community Re-Development, Believe 2 Achieve, Extended Schools, Southside Sports, SportsZone - Wolverhampton City Council, St. Judes Church, Wolverhampton Network Consortium and more.
As the new school year begins, we are excited to announce our latest developments:
1. 'Elite Talent' Basketball Development Centre, Colton Hills School (Oct/Nov 2008) 2. SLAM! Learning - peer education/tutoring study group (Sept 2008) 3. Anti-Social Behavioural Project with ABCD Warden Scheme (Sept 2008)
4. 'Hoops 2 Health' Initiative (Dec 2008)
A sure testiment of how we are, "FOLLOWING THRU', IN ALL WE DO!"
