SLAM! 2 Da Streetz - Summer 2010 |

The summer has finally arrived! As usual SLAM! Basketball will be running our 3rd annual, SLAM! 2 Da Streetz program, once again.
‘SLAM! 2 Da Streetz’ is a summer outdoor basketball development initiative, running throughout local ball parks of the city of Wolverhampton. SLAM! 2 Da Streetz will target under-used outdoor basketball facilities promoting the sport to the respective communities. A road-show, consisting of a jamboree of basketball development activities, will be used to engage, entertain and educate its all participants.
Commencing Monday 2nd August, SLAM! 2 Da Streetz will host 5 weekly locations throughout the summer holidays:
Mondays: Phoenix Park - MUGA, Blakenhall: 11am - 1pm (Under 13s) and 2pm - 4pm (Under 19s)
Tuesdays: Green Park School - MUGA, Stowlawn: 11am - 1pm (Under 13s) and 2pm - 4pm (Under 19s)
Wednesdays: The Astro - MUGA, Heath Town: 2 pm- 4pm (Under 19s)
Thursdays: Cedar Grove - MUGA, Stowlawn: 11am - 1pm (Under 13s) and 2pm - 4pm (Under 19s)
Fridays: Upper Zoar Street - MUGA, Pennfields: 2 pm- 4pm (Under 19s)
(MUGA: Multi Use Games Area)
The program aims to:
- Encourage good well-being and healthy lifestyles
- Promote basketball as an inclusive and enjoyable physical activity
- Recruit community role models, volunteers for our capacity building programme
- Recruit gifted and talented players for National League, Academy, Central Venue League and Senior teams
- Encourage community cohesion with positive social interaction
- Make use of the city’s under-used outdoor basketball facilities

National League - Boys - 2010/2011 |

It is with great pleasure to announce, Team Wolverhampton SLAM! will be entering nationally competitive boys teams into the England Basketball National Youth Leagues - 2010/2011.
Our Basketball Club will represent the City of Wolverhampton at the Under 13s Boys and Under 16s Boys age groups, in the Midlands South West and Midlands Conference divisions respectively:

Team Wolverhampton SLAM! will be hosting open tryouts for both the Under 13s and Under 16s teams beginning on 31st July 2010 (City of Wolverhampton College, Wellington Road Campus).

SLAM! Basketball will be holding a number of FREE (no charge) basketball development sessions everyday (except Wednesday 17th) throughout half term break:
Monday 15th February:

England Basketball 2-Star Accreditation |

England Basketball has recognised the quality development work of SLAM! Basketball and have awarded our Basketball Club 2-Star EB Accreditation.
The accreditation recognises SLAM!'s commitment to:
1. Increasing particiapation through our work with local schools and youth organisations, within the Wolverhampton
2. Providing safe environments for individuals to develop their basketball abilities
3. Developing capacity building opportunites through our community sports coaching/officiating and volunteering programs

WOW!!!
Great turnout from all aspects of the community!!! From the talented youth to the supporters to the other local/regional/national contributioners who made Basketball Fusion 2008 a night to remember.
The basketball action from the tournament, competitions, awards and prizes, were well complemented by the musical atmosphere with the talented performers, allstar cheerleaders, brake dancers and spoken word.
